Iventis to support planning of the UN Climate Change Conference - COP26

Iventis’ collaborative planning platform will be used by Transport Scotland and other key stakeholders involved in delivering the 26th UN Climate Change Conference. Also known as COP26, the event will take place in November 2021 at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow.

The conference, which brings together world leaders, climate experts and campaigners, will be the biggest summit the UK has ever hosted. It has been described as the most significant climate event since the 2015 Paris Agreement.

Staging such an event requires a high degree of co-ordinated planning by the various stakeholders involved, including Transport Scotland and Glasgow City Council.

The Iventis platform, which has been used to help deliver major international events in the UK and overseas, will enable the team to develop all aspects of their plans to ensure the operation runs smoothly.

The platform ensures all stakeholders are kept up-to-date and all aspects of planning are fully integrated. In turn, this makes the planning process more efficient, minimises risks and opens opportunities to improve how the event is operated and managed.

The event is being planned under particularly challenging circumstances, having been postponed from its original 2020 date and with many of those involved working remotely. By using Iventis, the team can continue working together effectively and respond quickly to changing circumstances.

Iventis CEO & Founder Joe Cusdin said “Having been working with Edinburgh City Council for several years to support their event delivery, we’re pleased to extend our work in Scotland particularly for an event of such significance”.

David Laing, Events Resilience Manager at Transport Scotland said "Scotland has been home to major events, hosting the Commonwealth Games, Ryder Cup, the European Championships and the Solheim Cup in recent years all showcasing Scotland as “The Perfect Stage”. COP26 will continue to showcase all Scotland has to offer as it welcomes delegates and visitors from across the world to attend the largest summit ever held in the UK.

Transport Scotland is working with key partners to create, test and deliver the COP26 Transport Plan which plays a crucial role in the operational success of COP26, from both ensuring delegates and event attendees can travel to the event safely and efficiently while also minimising disruption and maintaining business as usual to Glasgow and the neighbouring towns and cities.

We are delighted to have Iventis on-board to assist in the creation and delivery of the Transport Plan. By using Iventis we can ensure all partners can share their latest plans remotely and collaborate in real-time. Transport Scotland and all partners involved, look forward to building the Transport Plan on Iventis and delivering a successful COP26 summit held in November”
